Come sail away with me….
While I am someone who really enjoys Fallout 76 and chooses to be patient with the bug updates, I am far from happy with how Bethesda is behaving towards the $200 Fallout Exclusive edition controversy and the complicated refunds. (As well as the price drop a week after release). They are digging themselves a massive grave at this point. I do hope that they actually learn from their mistakes and recover, and begin to treat their longtime fans with more respect. But not if they plan to pull this shit again in the future. It’s sad to see since I love Fallout.
Though this bullshit has happened, I’m still going to be playing Fallout - I already paid for the games, and they’re still fun to me. My respect for Bethesda has gone down and will probably stay down until they take their heads out of their asses.
¡100% agree with OP!
I’ve truly enjoyed my time playing (hit 76 hours on Tuesday), I’ve started an alt character to max out some perks, and I can’t wait to get back into the thick of it this weekend.
But I’m worried how all of this will affect future development and player-base.
So much of this has been poorly thought out- I paid $20 more for a “physical” copy of the game that includes:
- A really flimsy disc case (looks like a plain blue sleeve on my shelf, no indication on the rib that it’s a Fallout game)
- The thinnest possible paper they could print on for the case sleeve (think receipt paper)
- A disc-shaped card with the game code
- A rectangular card with the game code
- NO DISC
- A two-sided warranty card for the non-existent disc.
So why the fuck did I pay $60 for a floppy case of paper when I could’ve been emailed a code for $40? And why did I pay $60 for a pre-order, when it could’ve been as low as $35 a week after launch? And then there’s Bag Gate.
I still have hope for the bug fixes and patches, but I feel like they should’ve charged $30 all along, and billed it as an “Early Access” title until the game becomes more finished. Charge $40-60 once bugs don’t render the game unplayable for some.
Again, my experiences have been 100% positive, but this is crazy.
